Privacy Policy

This page explains what Shellharbour Tree Removal does with personal information collected through shellharbourtreeremoval.com.au. We handle that information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

It should be read together with our Disclaimer, which explains that this site operates as a referral service and that the tree work itself is carried out by independent contractors.

Last updated: August 2026.

The short version

You give us your contact details and a description of the tree job. We pass those details to an independent local tree contractor so they can call you and quote. That handover is the whole point of the site, and it is the single most important thing to understand about how your information is used.

What we collect

Only what you choose to tell us. In practice that is:

  • your name;
  • a phone number we can reach you on;
  • an email address, if you give one;
  • the suburb and street address where the tree is; and
  • what you have told us about the job — species, height, access, whether it is storm damaged, whether it is near a pool, fence or powerline.

We do not ask for bank or credit card details, drivers licence or Medicare numbers, or sensitive information such as health records. Please do not send them.

You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym if you prefer, but a contractor cannot inspect and quote a tree without a way to contact you and an address to attend.

How it reaches us

Two ways: the enquiry form on this website, which is delivered by a third-party form and lead-management platform, and calls to (02) 4214 4566. Calls may be logged or recorded by that platform for the purpose of passing the job on. Our web host and analytics may also collect standard technical data automatically — see Cookies and analytics below.

Who your details are given to

Your enquiry is passed to an independent tree contractor operating in the Shellharbour area. That contractor is a separate business. Once your details are with them, they hold and use that information under their own privacy practices, and they will contact you directly to arrange a look at the tree.

We may also use your information to answer a question you have asked, to follow up an enquiry that has not been actioned, and to keep a basic record that the enquiry was received.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to unrelated businesses for their own marketing.

Suppliers who process data for us

Running this website and handling enquiries involves third-party services — web hosting and content delivery, the form and lead-management platform, and email or SMS delivery. Those providers process information on our behalf. Some of them store or process data on servers outside Australia, which means the information may be handled under laws other than Australian privacy law. We use established providers and take reasonable steps around that, but we cannot control their internal operations.

Cookies and analytics

This site may set cookies and use standard web analytics to see how people find and move through it — pages viewed, how visitors arrived, approximate location at a city level. It is used in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify you.

Your browser settings can block or clear cookies. Some parts of the site may not behave normally if you do.

Keeping it secure, and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect enquiry records from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including limiting who can see them and using reputable providers. No transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.

Enquiry records are kept only for as long as they are needed for the purposes above, then deleted or de-identified.

Contact from us

If we contact you it will normally be about the enquiry you sent. Any marketing message will carry an opt-out, and you can tell us on (02) 4214 4566 at any time that you would rather not hear from us again.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your information

Call (02) 4214 4566 and tell us what you want — a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. We may ask a couple of questions to confirm it is you, and we will respond in a reasonable time. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will tell you why.

Because your enquiry may already have been passed on, you may also need to contact the contractor directly about anything they hold.

If you have a complaint

Raise it with us first on (02) 4214 4566 so we have a chance to fix it. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The version published on this page is the current one, and the date above shows when it last changed.
